It is a great pleasure for Mattsons to introduce our partnership with the Sardinia and Milan, Italy based One Ocean Foundation. The collaboration will allow for Mattsons Beds to work directly with, and contribute to the work of, One Ocean Foundation. For us, any support of the foundation that we can create is extremely important as is the need to increase the global awareness in general to the problems caused by the plastic pollution in our seas.
We are proud to be a part of the solution as an official partner of One Ocean Foundation and we are looking forward to supporting their efforts for years to come. Please visit the foundation’s website at www.1ocean.org for more detailed information on the work of One Ocean Foundation.
Starting in April, Ocean Beds By Mattsons will be available exclusively through our retail partners. The first beds of the collection made with the very special, high quality fabric created from recycled plastic bottles taken from our seas, have been shipped. The fabric has a great hand and is highly suitable for upholstery of beds and mattresses; a true feeling of luxury and a great way to support a good cause.
As a family company in its sixth generation, the very foundation of Mattsons has since the start in 1851 involved a conscious effort to work with local suppliers of materials, long before there was ever such a thing as a Co2 footprint to be concerned about. Back then, the preference to work with local suppliers and raw materials was mainly due to the logistic advantages and the desire to support local suppliers.
Today, 170 years later, the use of locally sourced materials and skilled artisans remain a key objective for Mattsons as a company. No longer so much due to logistic advantages as for the fact that the company for many years have consciously worked with great respect for our environment.
The decision to introduce the OCEAN BEDS collection with the ticking material being produced from plastic bottles harvested from our seas, could by some possibly be seen as a contradictory action by a company working only with all natural materials. Though this, in a way could be a correct assumption, to allow that be the conclusion would not only be missing the point, but also be an oversight of the true inspiration of the collection and our newfound partnership with One Ocean Foundation.
The beds included in the OCEAN BEDS project are special edition versions of the Elegance, Pure and Soulful models of Mattsons Beds that will be available with either the Tagel Tradition or Tagel Stretch top mattresses. The three colours we will be working with for the collection are based on blues and greens; the colours of the sea.
OCEAN BEDS By Mattsons is a limited collection, at this time we plan to produce fifty beds of the collection in 2021. Mattsons Beds will sponsor One Ocean Foundation by donating the uncut proceeds from the sales of the fifty beds.
OCEAN BEDS By Mattsons will be a focus project for 2021 as part of us cerebrating the 170th year of Mattsons as a family owned company. What better way to mark a big birthday? Let’s make it happen, let’s make a difference, sleep in great comfort on a bed from the OCEAN BEDS collection!
